Please note: Starlink kits do not include a built-in rechargeable battery. While there are some third-party battery options on the market, they are not original Starlink products and generally have low feedback and poor reliability, so we do not supply or recommend them. Each Starlink kit we provide comes with its own long AC/DC power adapter for standard use.
How Much Data Do Common Activities Use?
Web browsing and email are very light, usually around 150–250 MB per hour. Messaging apps like WhatsApp or iMessage use only a few MB for hundreds of texts, while voice calls take about 0.5 MB per minute. Video calls vary depending on quality: standard definition can use 300–500 MB per hour, and HD calls about 1.5 GB per hour. Music streaming averages 40–100 MB per hour, meaning you can listen for dozens of hours on a single rental package. Watching video is heavier: YouTube in standard quality takes about 0.5–0.7 GB per hour, while HD can be 1–1.5 GB per hour. Netflix uses about 3 GB per hour in HD and up to 7 GB per hour in 4K. Uploading photos is light, with a typical smartphone photo being 2–5 MB, so thousands fit into even the smaller data packages.
